Weight Management Challenges

Together, we can.

A weight loss journey can look a lot more like a yoyo trick than a steady line. On paper, losing weight is pretty straightforward – simple math, even. But in reality, our mindset is the driver. It can set us up for success, or it can set us up for a cycle of repeated failures. Sabotaging thoughts lead to feelings of helplessness, which in turn spur behaviors that are inconsistent with our goals. It’s disheartening. So much so that we’re often tempted to throw in the towel altogether.

With cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for weight management, we identify and modify thought patterns that are holding you back and create more goal-consistent behaviors to reach your health objectives. We find ways to reduce those feelings of helplessness and disappointment. In this step-by-step program, we’ll create realistic goals, develop a healthier mindset, address challenging situations, and make positive behavioral changes.

Please understand that CBT for weight management is intended to be utilized in conjunction with a reasonable food plan and consistent physical movement. The overarching goal is improved health, and weight reduction can be a result of improved health – and not guaranteed. Please also understand:

  • This practice does not provide specific diet and exercise plans. You may be referred to a primary care provider, bariatric physician, registered dietician, exercise physiologist, or physical therapist if it is indicated.
  • CBT for weight management is not intended to replace medical treatment for health conditions associated with excess weight, nor is it designed as preparation for bariatric surgery. Evaluation for psychological readiness for bariatric surgery is not provided by this practice.
  • During evaluation, eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa will be ruled out. If detected, you will be referred to a healthcare provider or facility that specializes in treating these disorders.
